Client: GMVL

Project: GMV CMS

Scope: Enabling

Duration: 26 weeks

Evolution Enabling were employed to undertake a fully encompassing service. This comprised of:

1. Full site set up as PC
2. Removal off-site of over 20,000m3 of spoil stockpiled from        historic phases
3. Full logistic set-up and supervision of all muck away                    operations comprising of material surveying, testing,

    weighbridge installation and management
4. Full groundworks and civils packages to prepare the site for      the arrival of site concierge units

Due to various works in the area under previous phases and differing main contractors, the logistic phase was particularly challenging. However, the spoil removal phase was completed on time and within budget without incident. The site was prepared for the arrival of the new development concierge suite, which comprised of foundations, drainage, car park construction and external landscaping. Coupled with the contracted work additional works were awarded to facilitate the installation of further district heating networks, power, water and services supplies.

These works encompassed detailed traffic management planning with the local authority, the client and the various other contractors in the area. Deep excavations in the highways were designed, planned and managed to ensure safe works with all 278-works undertaken in house.

Client: Bouygues UK

Project: HSQ3

Scope: Enabling

Duration: 4 weeks

Evolution Enabling were contracted to install the temporary access ramp into an underground carpark. The task included taking control and managing a live carpark during the construction.

The layout of the carpark had to be altered several times as the project commenced and progressed to allow the maximum availability of car parking spaces at all times, Evolution were contracted to employ a line painter to remove and install the segregation lines as required.

Following the enabling stage Evolution then handed over to our own Civil Engineering teams who then installed sheet piles down to a depth of 6000mm. With drainage in reinforced concrete to finish the ramp.

Client: Beyond the Box Developments

Project: Esplanade Public House

Scope: Enabling, demolition, remediation

Duration: 14 weeks

Evolution Enabling Services was contracted in by Beyond the Box Developments as PC by competitive tendering to undertake demolition, and ground clearance of the Esplanade Public House on Southend-on-Sea Seafront to make way for a new high-end residential development. Due to arson prior to Evolution starting on site we were then called in as an emergency to make the fire-damaged steel frame structure safe once the Fire Services had finished their work.

Evolution Enabling scope of works thereafter was as follows:
• Design, Supply & Erection of site hoarding.
• Vehicular & Pedestrian traffic management.
• Controlled dismantling, demolition of structure using

conventional and robotic demolition techniques c/w full

  environmental monitoring.
• Temporary works to secure retaining wall (The building is at

the foot of a steep cliff that has suffered landslides in the last

   twenty years towards the Seafront).
• Asbestos Removal.
• Land Remediation.
• Earthworks.
• Concrete Crushing and Construction of piling mat with

  crushed material

Asbestos material buried sub-surface (Not reported within site Demolition Asbestos report) was discovered by Evolution prior to any excavation taking place so Evolution then undertook an operation of ground remediation, safely removing all buried Asbestos Material from the site. Evolution Enabling Services handed the site over to the new build Contractor fully prepared, level Asbestos free, and stable, complete with prepared Pile Mats and a Tower Crane base (From recycled clean crushed concrete) ready for new build activities on time and within budget.

Client: Taylor Wimpey

Project: NR1

Scope: Enabling, temporary works, survey

Duration: 14 weeks

During the enabling phase of works, the site was set up with temporary working platforms installed, and access routes and logistic setups were put in place. This enabled the smooth running of the main works element.

The undertaking of the enabling works ensured all provisions were in place prior to the main works element of the project commencing. All risks were removed to ensure a smooth operation through the main contract programme. During the enabling phase of the works design elements were finalised and issues investigated to achieve the completed design.

As design information was now complete and the site was free from unknown risks the client was able to confidently place the main works order without risk provisions saving money and potentially further delays.

Client: Hill Partnership

Project: St Luke's

Scope: Enabling, temporary works, structural alterations.

Duration: 14 weeks

The works involved the cut and carve of the existing buildings and the construction of 3 basements and the installation of all structural steel and structural carpentry works. All works were undertaken under the enabling contract to provide the client with a shell and core package ready to fit out. This method avoided the interface with multiple contractors on a challenging site and allowed the strict management of all aspects of the project.

The Enabling core package saved time on the contractor interface and enabled continuity of works throughout. As the enabling contract controlled all early works all design issues were swiftly dealt with avoiding delays to the main program.

Continuity of works and the need for only an enabling contractor saved time and therefore money.
